At Leslie's Laundry, families are central to our mission. We provide laundry services, run a small boutique called Cherub's Closet, and accept donations of clothing for families.

THE WHY

"My last position was the most satisfying 4 years of my career~ being a Camden Elementary school nurse... These circumstances and so many more, led me to find my own way to continue helping parents provide clothing for their children. The biggest difference has been the range and amount of clothing donated to me to share with any parent in need, regardless of income. Last year I washed  almost 800 loads of infant and children's laundry. "

Our Story

I am a retired RN having worked for 39 years in my field. I loved the ability to challenge myself in areas of nursing that weren't necessarily in society's highest regard. The individuals I met through my career made me appreciate the life I am blessed to live. My last position was the most satisfying 4 years of my career~ being a Camden Elementary school nurse!  There, I was introduced to the raw truth of caring for many children who lived in poverty.  This was a big adjustment for me, having lived as the eldest of five children in a family who never had the experience of coming to school hungry or be properly clothed for each season. My nursing position unraveled to include helping children with clothing and shoes as well as utilizing our skills such as providing Diabetic treatment or providing enteral nutrition to a child who was unable to swallow effectively. In a school system, the nurse needs to look beyond the "obvious complaint" of the child to understand why and how the nurse can help their student.

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord make me an instrument of your peace:

where there is hatred let me sow love;

where there is injury, pardon;

where there is doubt, faith;

where there is despair, hope;

where there is darkness, light;

where there is sadness, joy.

Oh divine Master grant that I may not so much seek

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love,

For it is in giving that we receive,

it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,

and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.
